Women’s Hoops hits the road this weekend to battle a 12-5 Michigan team before hosting the undefeated No. 1 UCLA Bruins later next week:
Michigan guard Olivia Olson has upped her scoring average to 17 points per game on 45.7 percent shooting
The freshman ranks 11th in the league in scoring in conference games and is the highest-scoring rookie
The Wolverines are the only team across the nation to have two freshmen averaging at least 15 points per game
Olson (16.0 ppg) ranks seventh nationally in scoring by a freshman and Syla Swords (15.1 ppg) comes in at No. 12
This season the No. 1-ranked Bruins team are off to the best start to a season following win #17 against Penn State, 83-67
6-7 junior Lauren Betts secured her tenth double-double of the 2024-25 season, recording a game-high 22 points, 12 rebounds, and a career-high seven blocks
Last week, Betts made John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 List and Student Athlete of the Week
RU Men’s Basketball team prepares to meet Penn State for a Monday night showdown on the road.
The Nittany Lions dropped their most recent contest against Michigan State, 90-85
Penn State shot 65.2 % from the field as star guard Alec Baldwin Jr. posted 20 points and nine assists while teammate D’Marco Dunn followed behind with a career-high 18 points
Despite the loss, Penn State has now scored 80-plus points in 12 of its 16 games this season and Dunn tallied his fifth double-digit scoring performance since Dec. 14
